Dear John Teo, you wrote:
The government is going to impose a S$0.05 surcharge per plastic bag used by supermarkets next year. Will it affect your plastic business?
Hi John,
The plastic bag business to supermarkets is not a significant segment of our overall plastic business due to its low profit margin. However, we believe demand for supermarket plastic bag will persist because most households in Singapore still use plastic bags for rubbish disposal. Over the years, we have moved into plastic bags for medical, food and customised plastic bags manufacturing.

Dear Derrick Goh, you wrote:
You seem to be betting big on shrimp farming in Singapore but India and Vietnam are the biggest exporters of shrimps. How do you compete with the high cost of operating a shrimp farm in Singapore compared to lower cost countries like India and Vietnam?
Hi Derrick,
You are right that the running cost of a Singapore shrimp farm is higher than our neighbouring countries. However, we are leveraging on our in-house intensive shrimp farming system that achieves higher farm productivity and survivability of shrimps. We work with Bosch’s AquaEasy water monitoring system and automatic feeding system to automate our farm operation which helped further to reduce feed wastage and manpower used.
Our Singapore operation mainly offer live and fresh chilled antibiotic free shrimp for our local market while India and Vietnam export frozen shrimps. We will explore shrimp farms in our neighbouring countries when appropriate opportunities arises.
Thank You!

Manufactured feeds for ornamental fish. Serious hobbyists are spending serious money on live-feeds for their precious playthings. Can we modify slightly our patented fish feeds to suit other species, such as frogs, tortoises, lizards, hamsters, etc? Believe if our feeds, even if unmodified, are as nutritious as the live-feeds, hobbyists would opt for Qian Hu products for convenience and fussfree feed management. Pleased to have your expert opinion.
Hi Chee Hean,
Thanks for your suggestions. We do have feeds that are formulated specifically for reptiles and small animals. We will develop products that zoom into these sub-categories in the future.
